Na de lunch zijn we met z'n allen gaan zwemmen in een buitenzwembad. Mannen en vrouwen hadden allebei een eigen deel van 't zwembad, gemengd zwemmen mocht niet! (gelukkig hadden we dit meteen door.... :) )

Ik hoop dat iedereen de blogs van ons leuk vind. Er zullen er nog vel volgen. Er staan ook weer nieuwe foto's op de skydrive (zie link). sorry dat het even geduurs heeft, maar na twee dagen rimboe en wat problemen met het internet was het even niet mogelijk foto's upteloaden. Gelukkig staan ze er nu wel op. Veel plezier verder !!!

Na deze kleine excursie zijn we weer in de bus gestapt en zijn we verder gereden richting onze slaapplek. Hier kwamen we aan toen het pikkedonker was en was het dus erg spannend om de weg te vinden in het nauwelijks verlichte dorpje. Opeens stonden we bij de rivier en moesten we deze nog in het donker oversteken. Toen kwamen we aan bij onze slaapplek, een gezellig ingericht huisje. Er stonden bedden met klamboes voor ons klaar en we werden hartelijk ontvangen. De meisjes hebben meegeholpen met het maken van het eten. Onder andere een soort van loempia’s. Het was heel gezellig en we voelden ons meteen thuis. Hier hebben we onze reisleider Khoa nog een paar leuke dansjes geleerd. Toen kwam de rijstwijn erbij en hebben meerdere mensen te diep in het glaasje gekeken... Daarom werd het steeds gezelliger en vergaten we bijna dat we midden in de natuur moesten slapen. Het begin van de nacht was even wennen door de krekelgeluiden die je buiten hoorde en de insecten die je omringden. Maar uiteindelijk heb ik toch nog wel redelijk geslapen onder het genot van het gesnurk van meneer gebuys. Al met al een erg avontuurlijke dag die we niet snel nog eens zullen beleven!

Hierna zijn we naar de Cao Dai Head Temple gegaan. De tempel was heel erg mooi. Hij had allerlei verschillende kleuren. Toen wij aankwamen was er net een dienst begonnen. Er waren drie verschillende religies samen in de tempel aan het bidden. Ook het uiterlijk van deze tempel was een combinatie van drie verschillende religies. We liepen terug naar de bus en aan de overkant van de weg zaten allemaal apen. Daar moesten we natuurlijk even foto’s van maken. Na de lunch zijn we naar de Cu Chi tunnels geweest. We stonden allemaal rondom de gids toen hij op een bepaalde plek in het bos de bladeren uit elkaar schoof en daar was een ingang van een tunnel. Hij was echt heel klein. Niet breder dan een voet met maat 38-39. Een Vietnamees deed voor hoe ze in de oorlog de tunnels ingingen. Je moest je armen helemaal langs je oren houden anders paste je er niet in. Een paar van onze groep hebben het geprobeerd. Daarna kregen we een aantal vallen te zien. Deze zaten verstopt onder de bladeren op de grond. Als je erop stapte kwamen er pinnen in je benen, heup of zelfs in je gezicht. Daarna mochten we zelf in een van deze gangen. Ze hebben de ingang van deze gangen speciaal groter gemaakt voor toeristen. En als nog vond ik dat het echt supersmal was. Ook kregen we te horen dat de Vietnamese soldaten hun schoenzolen andersom onder hun schoenen maakten zo leek het voor de Amerikanen alsof ze de andere kant uit liepen. De soldaten hadden echt overal aan gedacht. Ze waren heel slim. Tijdens de oorlog zijn er 5000 kilo bommen per vietnamees gebruikt. Na de oorlog zijn van de niet ontplofte bommen vazen en kerkklokken gemaakt. Zij wilden de herinnering van de oorlog omzetten tot goede dingen. Dit vond ik erg mooi om te horen. Toen helemaal weer terug naar de stad om te eten en vervolgens naar de diploma uitreiking van de HAVO en VWO leerlingen die we via skype konden bijwonen. Nu de koffers in pakken omdat we morgen ergens anders slapen (op platteland!!) en daarna weer lekker ons bedje in.

De mediales is daarna gegeven door meneer Gebuys, over de verschillen met de media in Nederland.
Na nog even 2 uur te hebben uitgerust zijn we naar het restaurant gegaan, echt sjiek! Het was op een boot waarbij we een 5-gangendiner kregen. De stad zag er prachtig uit met al die lichtjes! Na het eten hebben we nog even rondgevaren over Saigon rivier. Hierna zijn we teruggegaan naar het hotel waar we nu lekker gaan slapen. De eerste dag heeft veel indruk op ons gemaakt.
Een geslaagde dag dus,

08:00 take 2 hour drive southwest of Saigon to the Mekong Delta which is known as the rice bowl of Vietnam.
Upon arrival, take a boat cruise around islets and tropical orchards through the canal of Vam Xep to reach a small islet, followed by a relaxing walk along shady and palm fringed trails passing by local villages where you can see their peaceful daily life. Stop en route to visit a bee farm, sip special tea with honey and sample fruits with a local family and share their stories of life in the Mekong Delta. Visit a small coconut workshop, just to get a glimpse of typical family run business in this area.
Walk to a lane where a horse-drawn cart awaits you to transfer to visit handicraft village, a coconut candy factory, enjoy tropical fruit, traditional music and then relaxation with rowing boat through the narrow under shade palm, tree-lined canals of Mekong River before returning to My Tho by motorized boat.
+ Enjoy lunch at local restaurant on the islet before heading to Can Tho.

Day 9 – 30 June 2012 (Sat): Can Tho – Cai Rang Floating Market - Saigon (B/L/D)

08:00 say good by local home and transfer to Ninh Kieu pier for cruising along the small and picturesque tributaries by a rowing boat, we will see the Cai Rang Floating Market- the busiest but nicest one with heaps of rowing boats. See the beautiful scenery and daily activities of the locals. Walk around a village and visit a rice husking mill. Disembark and transfer visit Binh Thuy Ancient House and Can Tho Museum. Then transfer back Saigon with Lunch at Mekong Restaurant on the way back.

Suggest: prepare gift to encourage children to study, organize fun activities, donation for building school, teach English and take care of children

Day 14 – 5 July 2012 (Thu): Hanoi – Halong Bay (B/L/D)
At 8.30AM, depart from your hotel in Hanoi. Take 3.5 hour drive to Ha Long Bay, one of the World Natural Heritages recognized by UNESCO with over 3,000 spectacular limestone islands rising from the clear, emerald sea in the Gulf of Tonkin. Upon arrival, welcome aboard. Enjoy welcome drink before check in at your cabin. While the junk is passing many rocky islets, caves, floating villages and beaches, your lunch will be served on board with fresh seafood. In the afternoon, visit a floating fishing village by rowing boat. Meet and talk and take photos with the villagers. Free time afterwards for swimming or relaxing on the sundeck. Later on, the junk moves a quiet area to dock for overnight stay.
Dinner with Vietnamese food is served on board.
Day 15 – 6 July 2012 (Fri): Halong Bay - Hanoi (Brunch)
Breakfast is served while the junk cruises around Ha Long Bay, passes by many islets named by their shapes such as Dog, Incense Urn, Fighting Cock, Finger, etc. Stop for a while to explore Surprise Cave- one of the most beautiful ones of the bay. The junk then continues cruising towards the wharf. Ready to disembark at about 10.30AM. Your vehicle is ready to take you to restaurant in Ha Long City for a delicious seafood lunch before returning to Hanoi.

Bijna en dan ...
Ik ben Peter en samen met Britt houd ik dit blog bij.
We hopen op veel en leuke reacties.
Nog twee weken en dan zitten we nu al ik het vliegtuig naar Vietnam.
Iedereen verheugt zich er enorm op en we kunnen bijna niet meer wachten.
Het liefst zouden we morgen al vertrekken, maar dat kan natuurlijk niet.
